• The Paradise Road past Longmire is open four days a week, Friday-Monday, conditions permitting. The road is closed Tuesday-Thursday (News Release, 10/30/24). More information is available on the Paradise Winter Access FAQ page.

• The road to Paradise closes nightly at the gate at Longmire. Check Alerts daily for status of the Paradise Road. The road can still close at any time due to weather/road conditions. All vehicles are required to carry tire chains November 1 - May 1.

• Gate Schedule:

  • Gate opens 9:00 am

  • Uphill gate closes 4:00 pm

  • Downhill gate closes 5:00 pm**

  • **It is recommended to leave Paradise by 4:30 pm in order to safely drive down the hill and exit the gate at Longmire before it locks for the night.

• Check Alerts for current status of the Longmire gate and other road updates. Check Alerts after 4:00 pm for expected road opening status the day before you plan to visit. Check back after 7:00 am the day of your visit for the updated status.

• In addition to the road closing nightly, the road may close early or remain closed the entire day due to weather or staffing conditions, as determined by the Winter Road Opening Matrix.

• While you're waiting for the road to open in Longmire, please park in the parking lot, not in a traffic lane.
